The month of May is officially designated as National Stroke Awareness Month. Stroke is a leading cause of death and serious, long-term disability in the United States. According to the American Stroke Association, approximately 795,000 people experience a new or recurrent stroke each year. [more]

Stroke risk factor include:

  • High blood pressure
  • Atrial fibrillation (A-fib)
  • High cholesterol
  • Smoking
  • Diabetes
  • Poor circulation
  • Not being active
  • Obesity
  • Family history of stroke

Do you know the signs of a stroke? Use the FAST test, as seen below, to spot the warning signs of a stroke. If you or someone else shows signs of a stroke, seek immediate medical attention.
