Hospice

When cancer treatments prove to be ineffective in fighting the disease, and all known medical treatments have been used, the doctor may recommend hospice care. When the patient and family agree to proceed with hospice, the doctor or his staff will refer the patient to a hospice care provider. Hospice provides end of life care for terminally ill patients and their families and makes sure all the patient's needs are met. Their services are 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The two agencies we use at St. Vincent Charity Hospital are:

Hospice of the Western Reserve
300 E. 185th St.
Cleveland, Ohio 44119
www.hospicewr.org
(216) 383-2222

Visiting Nurse Association
2500 E. 22nd St.
Cleveland, Ohio 44115
(216) 931-1450

If you or anyone in your family has questions about hospice, please ask your doctor or one of the nurses in the Oncology Outpatient Department, (216) 363-2585.
