By seeking diabetes care and education at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center , you are part of the Joslin Circle of Caring — a program that places individuals at the center of their treatment team and provides ongoing support for the successful self-management of diabetes. Through this approach, patients have the opportunity to set their own healthcare goals and to develop effective methods for incorporating exercise, nutrition and weight management into their lifestyles.

Meet the Joslin Team

The Joslin team consists of healthcare professionals with special training and expertise in diabetes management, and includes an endocrinologist, certified diabetes educators (CDE), nurse practitioners, dietitians and physical therapists. To address complications related to diabetes, the Joslin team regularly works with St. Vincent Charity Medical Center medical and clinical specialists, such as podiatrists, nephrologists, ophthalmologists, vascular surgeons, cardiologists and mental health counselors.

Faramarz Ismail-Beigi, M.D., Ph.D.

Faramarz Ismail-Beigi, M.D., Ph.D.

Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Ismail-Beigi brings more than 36 years of medical experience to this role. He is an established clinical endocrinologist and investigator with special interests that include thyroid disease and the prevention and management of diabetes.

Dr. Ismail-Beigi comes to the Joslin Diabetes Center affiliate from Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals of Cleveland and the VA Medical Center. He is currently involved in two major multi-center trials with the National Institutes of Health. The trials focus on diabetes and the prevention of complications of diabetes, especially cardiovascular disease.

In his role as the Medical Director of the Joslin Diabetes Center affiliate, Dr. Ismail-Beigi is working to expand the Center's clinical research trials. He is also expanding its efforts to reach out to Cleveland's Central neighborhood to help prevent diabetes and help people with diabetes better manage their disease.

Dr. Ismail-Beigi is now available to see patients through referrals from primary care physicians. Dr. Ismail-Beigi will work with patients and their primary care physicians to ensure they get the care they need. He is at the Joslin Diabetes Center affiliate within The Center for Vascular Health at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center , located in Suite 310 of the St. Vincent Medical Office Building.
