When it comes to diabetes, there is a lot of misinformation out there. People, who are diagnosed with diabetes, often think they face a life of no more sweets and constant diet restrictions. But that is not always true. Moderation is the key. If you have diabetes or know someone who does, the best thing to do is learn about it. That is why we are here.
St. Vincent Charity Medical Center is the only affiliate of Joslin Diabetes Center in Northeast Ohio. Through this affiliation with the Harvard Medical School-based Joslin Diabetes Center, we help you take control of your diabetes. We are there for you every step of the way with an education plan and effective, quality care.
The program is dedicated to helping patients live, learn and thrive with diabetes through:
- Comprehensive programming, advanced treatments and the latest research
- Utilizing multidisciplinary healthcare team with expertise in diabetes, including physicians, certified diabetes educators, nurse practitioners and dieticians
- Individual and group education and training on nutrition, diabetes self-management skills and healthy lifestyle choices
- A collaborative approach to diabetes care focusing on communication between the Joslin team, patient and the primary care physician
