Monica's weight loss story
My name is Monica and I lost 160 pounds with weight loss surgery at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center.

I never thought of myself as fat. I weighed 325 pounds, had a decent job and lots of friends. But as I was getting older, I had a number of health issues that led to me having to take medication for blood pressure and pre-diabetes.

Then I had a health scare that led me to sit up and take notice. I did my homework and actually waited four years before I made the decision to have the surgery. What made the difference? I wanted to live. It was scary, but Dr. Ben-Meir was great. I asked to see him just before surgery and he came in to reassure me. That was all I needed to hear.

After the surgery, I felt as if I'd done a lot of sit-ups. Within two weeks after surgery, I started feeling poorly and it turned out I no longer needed by blood pressure medication-two weeks after surgery! It's a miracle. I'm grateful every day!
