Most commercial insurance providers cover bariatric
surgery for patients who meet eligibility criteria for
medical necessity. Medicare covers the procedure under
unusual circumstances for individuals who meet strict
eligibility criteria. These usually include one or more
of the following:
- High blood pressure that cannot be controlled with
medication
- Sleep apnea
- Diabetes which is poorly managed medically
As part of our comprehensive program, the Center for Bariatric Surgery provides assistance with
the insurance approval process.
St. Vincent Charity Medical Center also offers a loan program through Chase Bank for those who qualify.
