- Yes. I do find myself shopping much differently than before my surgery. I often find myself stuck in the produce aisle picking through all the colorful veggies and fruits that I used to walk right past and wish I enjoyed. Now I actually crave them!

- The most surprising part of life after my surgery, besides the weight loss, is that I don't feel like food controls me anymore. I eat to live rather than live to eat. I have let go of the "monkey on my back" and found a new freedom I never felt until after surgery with Dr. Ben-Meir at the Center for Bariatric Surgery at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center .
