CPN and The Spine and Orthopedic Institute are pleased to welcome Dr. Matthew E. Levy to St. Vincent Charity Medical Center. He will perform orthopedic procedures at the main campus.

Born and raised in Cleveland, he worked for 14 years as team physician for a number of local sports teams. After graduating from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, he completed his internship and residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Levy is also fellowship-trained in Sports Medicine.

Board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Levy is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Ohio State Medical Association, American College of Surgeons and Arthroscopy Society of North America. He has written extensively on orthopedic issues and has a special interest in sports medicine. He also has expertise in joint replacement and fracture care.

The Board of Directors of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center and Sister Judith Ann Karam, CSA, President and CEO of the Sisters of Charity Health System, have named David Perse, M.D., President of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, effective April 15, 2011. Dr. Perse is the current President of Lutheran Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic Hospital.
As President, Dr. Perse will lead the operations and implementation of the strategic direction of the Medical Center, ensuring the continued quality, service excellence, financial strength and growth of the Medical Center. He will collaborate with the medical staff and caregivers to ensure that healthcare services are delivered in a way consistent with the faith-based mission, vision and values of the Sisters of Charity Health System.
Sr. Judith Ann Karam, who has served as President and CEO of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center since August 2009, will continue in the role she has had since 1998 as President and CEO of the Sisters of Charity Health System. She will give support to Dr. Perse, work with the Board of Directors of St. Vincent and continue to engage community leaders, government officials, the St. Vincent Charity Development Foundation and other stakeholders to achieve the vision of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Joumana T. Chaiban has joined Cuyahoga Physician Network (CPN) and St. Vincent Charity Medical Center effective Friday, Nov. 19th. Dr. Chaiban completed a two-year
fellowship in the Division of Clinical and Molecular Endocrinology at University Hospitals Case Medical Center. She has also completed clinical and research fellowships in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. A graduate of St. Joseph University School of Medicine in Beirut, she has written extensively on topics related to diabetes and metabolic disorders.

Dr. Chaiban joins St. Vincent Charity Medical Center as the medical director of Joslin Diabetes Center. She will be responsible for reinvigorating our affiliate on both the outpatient and inpatient side. She will also do
general inpatient and outpatient endocrinology consultations. Dr. Chaiban is a member of the Endocrine Society and a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. She is fluent in English, French and Arabic and conversational in Spanish.

Dr. Deepak Arora has joined Cuyahoga Physician Network and will be practicing as a gynecologist at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center. He comes to St. Vincent from Joel Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg, Ohio.

A native of India, Dr. Arora graduated from the University of Punjab Medical School. He completed his internship at the University of Punjab and his residency in dermatology at Wellingdon Hospital in New Delhi. He went on to do two years residency in general surgery at Booth Memorial Hospital in Flushing, New York, and then specialized in obstetrics and gynecology at Wyckoff Heights Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.

He has practiced in New York and Amish country as well as at St. John Medical Center, Fairview Hospital and Lakewood Hospital. He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is affiliated with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

St. Vincent Charity Medical Center announces three medical appointments. Dr. Robert Wilder has accepted the position as Director of the Solon Emergency Department. Dr. Srinivas Merugu has accepted the position as Chair of the Performance Improvement Council. Dr. Carla Streepy O’Day has been named Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine. She had served as interim chair since January.

Following many years of service in many capacities, Dr. Robert Porter has retired as Chair of the Department of Radiology. Dr. Dawn Donich has been appointed Chair of the Department of Radiology.

The Department of Cardiovascular Diseases has announced two, co-chair appointments. Dr. Jayati Gupta Rakhit and Dr. Robert Steele have been named co-medical directors of cardiology.

CPN and The Collis Group are pleased to welcome Dr. Joel D. Siegal to St. Vincent Charity Medical Center. He will be performing brain, spine and peripheral nerve procedures on our campus.

Born and raised in Cleveland, he worked for over 10 years in Youngstown, and had a short stint in Louisville, Kentucky, before returning home to Cleveland. After graduating from Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, he completed his internship and residency at the University of Minnesota.

He has been an assistant clinical professor at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) since 2000 and serves as a consultant to Depuy Spine, a Johnson & Johnson Company. He has written extensively on neurosurgical issues and has a special interest in vertebral body augmentation for the treatment of compression fractures. He also has an expertise in intracranial work, surgical pain procedures, and the surgical management of complex spine problems. He is a member of the Ohio State Medical Association, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, North American Spine Society and American Medical Association.
