St. Vincent Charity Hospital offering free classes for Health Literacy Month

10/1/2009

CLEVELAND, OH—(October 1, 2009)—October is Health Literacy Month and the Health Literacy Committee at St. Vincent Charity Hospital will be holding free, educational classes to help educate people on the importance of health literacy.

This year’s theme, “Finding the Right Words for Better Health,” highlights new and easy ways to talk with your healthcare provider and demonstrates examples of good and bad communication between a doctor and a patient.

To begin Health Literacy Month, St. Vincent Charity Hospital will hold the first annual Health Literacy Kickoff Event, held on October 2, 2009 from 2-4:00 P.M. in the St. Vincent de Paul Room at St. Vincent Charity Hospital. Free and open to the public, it will feature educational booths and the opportunity to register for the classes that will be offered throughout the month of October. We’ll also feature fresh, hot popcorn, Health Literacy Bingo and raffle prizes.
