St. Vincent Charity Medical Center awarded $562,000 in grants

Cleveland, OH (January 11, 2010) – With the hard work of the Grants Department, SVCMC will be awarded a total of $562,000 in grants. The largest contribution was awarded by the Elisabeth Severance Prentiss Foundation, which donated $500,000 in seed funding in order to establish a comprehensive diabetes research program at Joslin Diabetes Center.

The Veale Foundation granted a generous $15,000 to support a refurbishment and upgrade of the Pre-Admission Testing and Occupational Medicine departments at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center’s Medical Office Building.

The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland awarded $37,000 to Building Healthy Communities for new Healthy Eating Active Living collaborative community programs and outreach campaign. In addition, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland also awarded $10,000 to support NIH grant application planning for a new research project entitled Community Based Participatory Research in a Medically Underserved Population.  This collaboration is spearheaded by SVCMC’s Center for Vascular Health, in partnership with Case Western Reserve University, St. Vincent Charity’s Community Outreach department, Cleveland State University’s Center for Health Equity, and Building Healthy Communities.
