CLEVELAND—(October 19, 2011)—St. Vincent Charity Medical Center announces that Dr. Keyvan Ravakhah has been named program director of the internal medicine residency program.

Dr. Ravakhah joins St. Vincent Charity’s Medical Staff from Huron Hospital, where he served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine and had previously served as program director of Huron’s internal medicine residency program.

“The Huron Hospital community’s loss is St. Vincent Charity’s gain,” said Dr. David F. Perse, president of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center. “We are thrilled to be able to keep someone of Keyvan Ravakhah’s caliber here in Cleveland.“

Dr. Ravakhah, who also holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve University, served at Huron Hospital for 19 years. “There are a lot of similarities between Huron and St. Vincent Charity,” said Ravakhah. “With all of the connections with the universities, including Cleveland State University, Case Western Reserve University and NEOMED, I see many opportunities for a promising future in medical training through St. Vincent Charity.”

After receiving his medical degree from Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey, Ravakhah completed his residency at Huron Hospital. In addition to his MBA, he has also completed a General Internal Medicine Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

His clinical special interest areas include palliative care, skin disease and diabetes care. As a program director for internal medicine residents, Dr. Ravakhah plans to expose residents to the office-based practice, more typical to internal medicine and primary care.

A prolific researcher, he has written extensively on a number of topics, including palliative care, congestive heart failure and infectious diseases. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
