Lakewood Catholic Academy to honor Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine at annual benefit

10/5/2011

(Lakewood, OH – October 1, 2011) – Lakewood Catholic Academy (LCA) will honor the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine
at their All Saints Auction, “The Legacy of Angels: A Celebration of the Sisters of Charity,” on Saturday, November 5,
2011. The event coincides with the 160-year anniversary of service by the Sisters’ in the Greater Cleveland area.

The Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine founded St. Vincent Charity Medical Center in 1865. The evening will be highlighted by the presentation of the Lakewood Catholic Academy Insignis Award, the school’s highest honor, in appreciation of the Sisters’ history and service in Cleveland and their commitment to Catholic education. LCA has been the beneficiary of the Sisters’ generosity since its opening in 2005 when the Sisters agreed to lease the grounds of their former convent and motherhouse to a consolidated school called Lakewood Catholic Academy. The eight-acre, lakefront campus became home to LCA, now Lakewood’s only Catholic preschool and elementary school.

“The LCA community views the Sisters of Charity as “living angels” not only to our school but to the people of Greater
Cleveland and beyond,” said Maureen Arbeznik, LCA Principal. “It is fitting that the LCA Insignis Award should be
presented to the Sisters for their tremendous contributions to Lakewood Catholic Academy.”

The event will take place on the Lakewood Catholic Academy campus at 14808 Lake Avenue in Lakewood, featuring
cocktails, dinner, a “spirited” Wine Pull, silent and live auctions. Festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. and the décor and menu
will reflect the Sisters’ French heritage. All proceeds from the event will benefit the students, faculty and programs of
Lakewood Catholic Academy.
