The GeroPsychiatry Program at St. Vincent Charity Hospital specializes in treating the psychiatric and medical needs of older adults. With a focus on restoring patients to good emotional and physical health, our comprehensive program addresses co-existing medical illnesses, medications, family concerns, and social and environmental issues. Specializing in Comprehensive, Compassionate CareUsing an interdisciplinary approach that combines medical, psychiatric and geriatric expertise, St. Vincent Charity Hospital’s dedicated team delivers compassionate care that focuses on the needs of the whole patient — physical, emotional and social, as well as the needs of their families. Our interdisciplinary team consists of physicians, geriatric psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, occupational and recreational therapists, pastoral/spiritual care specialists, chemical dependency educators and specialty physicians. Focusing on RecoveryTreatment at St. Vincent Charity Hospital is goal-directed and encourages patient participation. The geriatric team listens to understand the patient’s particular healthcare needs, as well as their family situations, and strives to provide the help needed to restore good emotional health in the least restrictive environment. Whenever possible, we link patients to community support resources. The Caregivers at St. Vincent Charity Hospital are uniquely qualified to provide this type of caring. SVCH is one of the only area hospitals to offer comprehensive adult psychiatric services, including emergency psychiatric intervention, inpatient services, detoxification, outpatient services and specialists in geriatric and medical psychiatry.
