St. Vincent Charity Hospital Announces New President

Jeffrey S. Jeney officially named President of Cleveland’s longest-serving hospital

Cleveland (December 2004) – St. Vincent Charity Hospital, Cleveland’s longest-serving hospital, has officially named a new President – Jeffrey S. Jeney, a native Clevelander. The announcement was jointly made by Sr. Judith Ann Karam, CSA, Interim President & CEO, UHHS/CSAHS - Cuyahoga, Inc. and President & CEO, Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine Health System, and John G. Breen, Chairman of the Board of Directors, UHHS/CSAHS - Cuyahoga, Inc.

With nearly 25 years of healthcare experience in Cleveland, Jeney is uniquely qualified to lead St. Vincent Charity Hospital. He joined St. Vincent Charity Hospital as Chief Operating Officer in 1998, and has served as the interim president since August 2003. Previously, he was associated with Saint Luke’s Medical Center for nearly 18 years, serving in several key positions, including President of the Hospital. He joined Saint Luke’s in 1980.

“Jeff Jeney has made significant and valuable contributions as Interim President of St. Vincent Charity Hospital and has truly earned this position. He is very focused on the goal of providing quality care and fulfilling the hospital’s faith based mission. He has been instrumental in streamlining medical and administrative processes and significantly improving the Hospital’s financial performance,” said Karam. “Most importantly, he is a compassionate Caregiver, focused on motivating individuals and groups to work toward a strategic vision which includes common goals and meaningful outcomes. We are very pleased to officially welcome Jeff as President of St. Vincent Charity Hospital.”

Jeney holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Cleveland State University, a Master’s degree of Divinity from Saint Mary Seminary, and a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Borromeo College. He is a diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and serves on the boards of Caritas Connection; Catholic Community Care; Center for Health Affairs - Management Services Committee; Joseph’s Home; and The Quadrangle.
