Rosary Hall Presents Educational Opportunity For HR, EAP, Counseling ProfessionalsCleveland, OH (September 8, 2002) - Rosary Hall, the alcohol and other drug treatment facility at St. Vincent Charity Hospital, will present "Opiate Addiction, Treatment Approaches and Relapse Prevention" October 9 from 8 a.m. until 12 Noon at Rosary Hall, St. Vincent Charity Hospital, 2351 East 22nd Street, Cleveland. The half-day seminar will help conference participants understand the new chemical treatments for opiate addiction, as well as the role of group therapy in a treatment situation. Presenters include Theodore Parran, Jr. MD, Associate Medical Director of Rosary Hall; Chris Adelman, MD, Medical Director of Rosary Hall, and Cynthia Downing, Ph.D., author of Triad: The Evolution of Treatment for Chemical Dependency. Discussions will center around the Buphrenorphine Maintenance Program, a soon-to-be released treatment program designed by the FDA to combat heroin addiction, as well as the role of the naltrexone pellet, a surgically implantable therapy that blocks drug cravings for as long as 75 days. Dr. Downing will present an hour-long session focusing on the role of long-term group therapy for relapse prevention. Celebrating its 50th year, Rosary Hall at St. Vincent Charity Hospital is well-known for its effective combination of innovative medical and spiritual care. Rosary Hall is a leader in the field of addiction treatment, establishing Ohio's first in patient treatment program. The "Opiate Addiction, Treatment Approaches and Relapse Prevention" program runs from 8:00 a.m. to noon on October 9, in the St. Vincent De Paul Room at St. Vincent Charity Hospital.
