St. Vincent Charity Hospital Celebrates Nurses' Week

Two Nurses Honored during Ceremony

Cleveland, OH (May 6, 2002) - National Nurses' Week - May 5 through May 11 - a week to remember the special role nurses play in our lives. Throughout the week, St. Vincent Charity Hospital will host small celebrations for its nurses, with one final award ceremony on May 10 at 4:00 p.m.

During the award ceremony, the Excellence in Nursing Award will be presented to two nurses for clinical excellence and customer service. The awards will be presented by the Hospital's Chief Nursing Officer, Sharon Thomas, RN. Recipients are chosen based on nominations by their peers. Nurses who have been nominated for the award will wear corsages throughout the week.

"We are looking forward to presenting these awards to two deserving nurses," said Thomas. "It is a great honor to be recognized for excellence by one's peers."

Nominations are reviewed by a committee comprised of Caregivers at the Hospital and others. As part of the honor, each will receive a $500 scholarship toward continuing education. In addition to the two winners, a total of 24 nominees will receive $100 scholarships for continuing education.

In addition to the final award ceremony, nurses will be treated to snacks and other goodies throughout the week. They will also be given the chance to win several raffle items, including gift certificates to local restaurants and stores, as well as summer sporting events. Raffle winners will be announced during Friday's ceremony.
